- Provides low cost and high performance
- Software-controlled radar architecture enables flexibility and extendibility
- Robust design supports multiple applications
THE PROBLEM
Many of today's weapon systems initiate critical events based on proximity to the ground or optimize lethality by fuzing at specified altitudes. Many platforms deliver multiple bombs or sub munitions, and high-cost components such as altimeters or proximity sensors within each weapon can drive overall system cost.
THE SOLUTION
To lower the cost of altimeter-equipped weapons, Mustang is developing the Affordable Radar Altimeter (ARA). Combining a low-cost radar with innovative modulation techniques and advanced signal processing, the ARA meets or exceeds weapon altimeter performance requirements while greatly reducing the cost.
THE APPROACH
Mustang is developing a producible software-controlled radar that addresses current altimeter cost drivers and leverages modern component technology, innovative modulation techniques and advanced algorithms.
THE TECHNOLOGIES
Low-cost, high-performance, software-configurable radar; RF and digital electronics; real-time signal processing; advanced algorithms.
